The Tarot
Its Occult Meaning Lies in the Major Arcanas

mytarot2_edited_edited.jpg

I will begin by giving a brief overview of the Tarot mainly because it is necessary to understand it due to its connection to numerology. Though the Tarot has traditionally been used by fortune tellers to forecast future events or to see patterns in one’s life, originally it was simply a deck of playing cards. Therefore the Tarot is a game which alludes to the game of life. My aim here is not to teach you how to read the Tarot so you can do readings for others, rather my goal is to help you use it to understand the nature of  your reality as far as its occult meaning.  For this it is important to understand the structure of the deck.

There are 78 cards in total, 22 are the Major Arcanas the remaining 56 are the Minor Arcanas. These are similar to a regular deck of cards. The 22 Major Arcanas are in my opinion the only cards you really need to understand. I have learned that knowing them and combining them with numerology can be an extremely powerful tool to decipher hidden messages.

I’ve illustrated my own deck to help me understand and memorize the cards, I encourage you to do the same. Here is the breakdown of the Major Arcanas; note that they are numbered from 0-21, so there is no 22nd card.

Practice using the Tarot to decipher hidden messages within society, media, politics and in mainstream culture. Look for their numbers and their symbols. For example, when is a 16 used, or the image of towers? This card represents accidents, natural events, such as earthquakes. When are words such as magician, magic, spells, sorcery or images related to magic used? Ask yourself why is a particular number so dominant in a movie, such as the #1. Is there a message being conveyed through sleight of hand? Can you see repetitive numbers, such as 666 or 999; these are mirrors of each other and sometimes can look like a price ie: $9.99, or a date “June 6, 2004”. The 6 represents love, the 9 the hermit, combined they represent the love of ignorance. Why is the 13 being used in certain contexts; this number alludes to death and dying, and why is the 15, the devil card, appearing in other contexts? Is there a sinister agenda underlining the plot? When is the moon, or the 18 so dominant? Why could the topic of a full moon be raised in a particular news story? Become sensitive to the number 14 as it is the Temperance Card in the Tarot. It is connected to the #5, the High Priest; in essence these numbers are telling you that you must be extremely patient to live under the Pope, your master; he will make you wait a long time for your freedom.

Challenge yourself and try to decipher hidden messages using the Major Arcanas cards, this will help you reach greater depths of understanding. However, greater truths can be revealed once you begin to combine Tarot with numerology. (Please read article on numerology).
